Just about anything can be Pressure Washed. It's not always about pressure, as it can do more damage than good. Depending on whats is being washed, you may need to depend on water volume and sometimes you need to rely simply on good chemicals to get the job done. It all depends on the task at hand. Why replace your fence or deck?

Home Improvements of Texas uses contractor-grade commerical wood stains and sealers, and environmentally frendly products.
Stains are mildew resistant, restore weathered wood, shield wood from harmful U.V rays, stabilize wood color and provide maximum durability under extreme conditions. I use stains that are specifally designed for exterior application and is made of a deep penetrating modified oil formula that ensures superior results. These unique stains are manufactured under the most stringent of quailty controls to guarantee consistent performance and a professional finish.
Of the thousands of decks built on an annual basis, the vast majority go unprotected against the environment. Due to the difficulty associated with applying deck stains, consumers unfortunately watch their investment gray over time and ultimately deteriorate.
THE PROCESS:
Washing
The process involves a two to three system approach to protecting the wood structure. First cleaning the fence or deck must be done prior to staining. The only exception to this is if the wood fence or deck is new with no mold growth. The cleaning is done with a simple solution of QSE and water that is applied with a sprayer. Power washing a fence or deck should only be done if there is heavy mold growth. This is because power washing deteriorates the wood from the high pressures of the sprayer. When RINSING (that is all you should do with a Pressure Washer when using on wood) a deck or fence, in the neighborhood of 1000 psi should be used to ASSIST the cleaner. Some contractors will say to use more, and some will tell you to stay around 800. psi. Even at those pressures you have to be careful. To much pressure lifts the fibers of the wood with the end result of furring the wood. To repair furring, you have to sand the deck or fence. Thats why technique and a good cleaner is important. The cleaner should provide most of the muscle.
After rinsing the wood, and there is'nt any puddles of water, a Brightner may be applied.
Wood Brightner
PREPARATION: Protect any aluminum surfaces (such as window frames) to prevent discoloration. Product will etch metal. If product makes contact with glass, rinse thoroughly before it dries. Mist any nearby vegetation with water before and after application.
APPLICATION: Shake well before using. Spray surface to be brightened with water, then apply Wood Brightener with a brush, roller or pump up sprayer. Use synthetic brushes or rollers only. Wood Brightener is supplied as a concentrate. Mix 1 gallon of Wood Brightener to 3 gallons of water for normal use. Wood Brightener is a thickened formula and may be used undiluted for difficult areas or vertical surfaces where extra clinging ability is desired. Apply product at temperatures above 50ºF. and below 90ºF. Do not apply in direct sunlight if possible. Keep Brightener wet on surface by occasionally misting with water. Brightener is not effective when dry. If product dries on surface misting with water will reactivate its power. Allow Brightener to stay on surface approximately 15-30 minutes to restore wood to its original color. Difficult areas may take longer.Test a small area first.
RINSING: Test a small area by scrubbing with a bristle brush to determine if the surface is ready for rinsing. When ready, scrub the surface with a firm bristle brush or long-handled push broom. Rinse thoroughly with water using a garden hose or pressure washer. Do not exceed 1000 PSI when using a pressure washer. Rinse any residue from plants.
MAINTENANCE CLEANING AND MILL GLAZE REMOVAL: Wood Brightener will clean, rejuvenate and brighten wood (such as redwood and cedar) without removing existing finishes. Also removes mill glaze from new wood and prepares surface for stain. Follow application and rinsing instructions above.
Coverage: 100-200 sq. ft. per gallon.
Stain
The final system involved in protecting your wood fence or deck is to apply a stain with the properties to give color and protection. We use a special mixture of stain that includes a sealant, mildicide, UV protectant, and waterproofing agent.
No matter how old a fence or deck is, they can be cleaned and stained giving them many more years of life. Or they can be stained when they are newly built to give them vibrant color while simultaneously prolonging their life.
It takes a steady hand and skill to power wash a deck without furring up wood fibers, or leaving lines and grooves in the wood which would be highly noticeable during and after sealing. We take great pride and care in power washing your valuable deck and its surroundings so this doesn't happen to yours, look below at the difference just power washing makes on this fence, but to keep it looking nice and fresh as long as possible you need to have a finish applied. Deck sealers come in many various colors, transparencies, sheens and type such aswater based or oil.
